About the Role
Unity Housing is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join their Finance Team on a permanent full-time basis. This is a pivotal role responsible for managing a broad range of payroll, finance, and accounting functions to support accurate financial operations and reporting across the organisation.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the role is to undertake the payroll, finance and accounting duties, including:
Payroll (30%)
Accurate preparation, reconciliation and execution of payroll for employees ensuring disbursement of wages, salaries, salary sacrifice, deductions, taxation and superannuation payments are made
Prepare and process payroll input to the contracted payroll service provider in a timely manner, as defined by the Service Level Agreement time frames
Reconcile payroll transactions across the payroll and Unity's accounting system and bank accounts
Provision of information as required, regarding fortnightly pay, superannuation, payroll deductions and processing to all employees with a focus on high level customer service
Financial (70%)
Preparation of month end management reporting, including bank reconciliations, processing journal entries, general ledger reconciliations and the preparation of excel spreadsheets
Maintenance of asset register
preparation of Excel spreadsheets and data analysis
Assist in the preparation of annual audited statutory accounts to ensure compliance with constitutional and legislative financial reporting requirements
Preparation of financial reports for external funding bodies
Support the Finance Manager and CFO in various ad hoc accounting tasks
Any other duties appropriate to the role
Skills & Experience
A degree-qualified accounting professional
Minimum of two years' experience in a dedicated accounting role
A solid understanding of accounting principles, practices, and financial statements
Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and create reports
Intermediate to Advanced excel skills, and strong knowledge of accounting software for reporting and month/year end journals
Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects
Meticulous in recording and verifying financial information
Effective written and verbal communication to convey financial information
Experience in payroll and progress toward (or interest in) CA or CPA accreditation will be highly regarded
