About the role
Provide leadership, support and development to the Records and Information Management Team and ensure continuous improvement of recordkeeping practices and compliance with Council's Records and Information Management Framework.
Manage and maintain Council's electronic document and records management system (EDRMS) with emphasis on data quality and compliance with the relevant legislation.
Drive business improvement from a strategic perspective and Governance.
Provide leadership, management, and direction to the Information Management team.
Contribute to the development, effectiveness and productivity of the Council by driving the development, guidance and strategic direction of quality records and information management processes and procedures.
Build proactive and collaborative working relationships with team members and internal stakeholders to establish and support Information Management project groups.
Ensure the integrity of the data in Council's EDRMS (CM) with regular auditing.
Oversee the management of Council's information assets which are created, received, or collected by Council in line with Council policies and legislation.
Make decisions in relation to complex records and information management matters.
Define and manage records and information management projects.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and completing records management tasks more efficiently and cost effectively.
Make decisions relating to the security, integrity and life-cycle management of Council information assets.
Ensure the provision of Records and Information operational support including providing Council staff assistance with information management enquiries.
Ensure that all Council information is handled with discretion and confidentiality.
Analyse and administer Freedom of Information requests.
To manage all Corporate Records in accordance with required policies and procedures.
Within the scope of this position, manage all risks within the workplace as defined by Council's Enterprise Risk Management Policy.
Skills and experience
Appropriate tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate 4 in Recordkeeping) and/or relevant experience.
Accreditation in Freedom of Information provisions applicable to Local Government Or an ability to gain one.
Demonstrated experience in change management
Experience in conducting training needs analysis and developing appropriate programs to facilitate and support user adoption of Council processes and systems.
Demonstrated strong analytical skills, attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of records management principles and State Records legislative requirements
Ability to effectively prioritise the inflow of organisational issues and manage the team's constantly changing work requirements
Proven ability to handle and deal with confidential or sensitive information.
Advanced knowledge of the functional use of an EDRMS
Proven experience in managing communication and liaising with all areas and layers of business (eg Executive, Managers, Staff, Elected Members etc)
Required to hold a current Class C South Australian drivers' licence.
