The City of Unley is a vibrant and dynamic local council that provides a range of valued and diverse services to the surrounding community. Based on the city fringe, less than 4 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD, the Council engages with their community across local business initiatives, community events, arts, environmental sustainability, community services and volunteering programs.
Overview:
Leads a team of 6 experienced community development professionals
3 year Fixed term contract
Part-time (0.8FTE, or 30 hours per week)

Leading a team of experienced professionals in diverse roles with very public and successful output, you will apply both a strategic lens to support, challenge and enhance an already award winning team. We are looking for a strategic results focused leader with a keen eye for detail whose leadership will guide the team through a new Council and 4 year business plan. Along with people management, the position is responsible for Council's social planning, including the identifying and responding to the needs of different population groups.
Responsibilities & Duties:
The Team Leader Community & Cultural Development oversees the multi-disciplinary Community & Cultural Development team, responsible for strategies, projects, services and initiatives that facilitate and foster community capacity building, social inclusion, participation, community wellbeing and vitality.
Provide high level leadership to the team and foster a positive work culture
Ensuring the team meet its objectives and deliver high quality initiatives on time, within budget and that are of maximum value to the community
Plan for and lead the Community & Cultural Development team comprising active ageing projects, arts and cultural development, event management, volunteer management and youth development within the City of Unley in accordance with Council's strategic and corporate goals
Lead the development and implementation of Council's social/community strategies and initiatives, including the development and oversight of Council's Public Health Plan and Disability Access and Inclusion Plan
Provide specialist advice on social planning needs to the organisation and the Unit
Ensure services, projects and programs provide meet community need and expectations and comply with all legislative, policy and contractual requirements
Liaise with various stakeholders including Elected Members, Council staff, peak bodies, State and Commonwealth Departments, universities, non-government agencies and regulatory authorities to meet the objectives of the Community & Cultural Development team.

Highly developed people leadership skills, including the ability to empower and motivate staff and nurture a culture of achievement
Strategic thinking skills and an ability to formulate strategies consistent with Council's Community Plan
Proven project management skills, with the capacity to influence others and engender cooperation
Skills in promoting collaboration and ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
A strong commitment to continuous improvement and ability to work across the Council on key organisational initiatives
