About the role

This contract position requires an interim Manager of Infrastructure to effectively and efficiently develop, manage and maintain an integrated asset management system for Councils infrastructure and assets. This will be done by providing leadership to inspire and motivate self-directed work teams within the Infrastructure Department.


Duties

  • Manage and oversee contractors
  • Assist and report to the Director of Environment & Infrastructure in the management of the technical and physical services provided by Council to ensure objectives and community needs are met
  • Prepare, manage and monitor budgets to control expenditures through regular budget reviews
  • Provide effective and professional advice to the general public, staff and project teams within the organisation as well as state government department/agencies
  • In conjunction with the Contracts Officer assist in the preparation of documentation for works and supply of goods and services
  • Develop, document and continuously review the departments work practices, procedures, policies and systems
  • Preparation of timely and accurate reports on various matters as required
  • Optimise asset decision-making and lifecycle asset planning


Skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or Similar
  • Must have proven experience in Civil Engineering and Project Management
  • A comprehensive knowledge of stormwater design/engineering, civil design and surveying principles
  • Experience and knowledge in business planning, budget accountability and asset data administration
  • Proven experience in planning, scheduling and delivering Capital Projects
  • Knowledge in procurement practices including tenders and contract management
  • Knowledge of current legislation, regulations and codes including, Australian Standards and Road Rules, Austroads Standards, Local Government Act and Asset Management Principles and procedures
  • Practical experience in management, preferably in a multi-disciplinary organisation
  • A current SA Driver’s Licence
  • Experience working with, or working for, local government
