We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Manager within the Civil sector for a well-renowned, Australian owned construction company.
The Design Manager will lead and support the design team on day-to-day basis, ensuring outcomes to the relevant AS standards during engineering feasibility studies, concept development, detail engineering, construction and Handover.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Ensure all design developments from feasibility and concept to construction and handover are delivered at the highest standard
• Comply with all regulatory requirements, including HSE requirements by implementation of safety reviews and Safety in Design as required
• Management of both internal and external stakeholders' involvement during the engineering and design lifecycle.
• Engage stakeholders in development of designs and scopes, desired outcomes, and key reviews of design and construction documentation as well as finalisation and handover.
• Undertaking design development and apply the best practices through technical assessments
• Develop feasibility studies, concepts, manage design, provide engineering support for construction to ensure defined business outcomes are achieved
• Provide input in the selection of projects procurement strategy, selection of suitable engineering and construction solutions to award project contracts
• Effectively build and maintain relationships within the precontracts and project team providing leadership and direction within all the engineering and design teams.
Skills & Experience:
• Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering, with minimum 15 years experience including major construction projects
• Hold a current White Card and Driver's License
• In depth knowledge and experience in using civil and structural engineering
• Experience of design management and delivery
• Experience of managing teams and developing/mentoring staff
• Persistent, motivated and driven, good time management and adherence to agreed costs, schedules and timeframes
