About the role

Working from the Depot, you will report directly to the Manager Infrastructure and Projects. You will lead the coordination of the delivery teams in Works, Parks & Gardens and Engineering. You will join the Councils' leadership team and be accountable for the timely and effective delivery of works and operational programs across the Councils area.
Leading the delivery of projects within construction, maintenance, and parks areas
Coordinate and be accountable for the budget and expenditure in the areas of responsibilities
Determination, communication, and documenting decisions relating to allocation of work
Applying project and contract management and planning skills to manage deliverables
Coordinate and direct the team's capital works projects
Promote a strong customer-centred approach and high-quality performance standards
Communicate the progress of works across the community and all stakeholders, to maintain engagement
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the works and operations of Council
Inter-relate with other functional officers for project quantification, inc. cost estimation, scope development, programming, delivery and recording, maintenance of Councils assets, property, facilities, and procurement activities.
Oversees the operations of Council's Waste Recovery centre and waste collection contractor.
Ensure staff and resources are effectively allocated and managed, as required
Participation with planning of Council and Community Programs and events as required
Manage on-call rosters
Responsible for the recording of Depot Employees work hour, and job costings
Oversee and authorise as required all purchasing activity of employees with delegated authority within areas of responsibility
Ensure all Council's Policies and procedures always adhered to
Responsible for implementation of WH&S Policies and Procedures and Risk Management Plans; including the management of contractor's delivering services within the Works & Operations area to ensure compliance with specifications, WH&S and Risk polices and Procedures are also adhered to
Ensure all Council services are implemented in accordance with services delivery standards
Ensure Councils plant and equipment are correctly maintained and recorded
Ensure staff within their area of responsibility have received appropriate instruction, training, and supervision in line with their area of responsibility
Skills and experience
Essential to the role, minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience in Project Management, working with Contractors and Council Staff
Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Construction, Project Management or Horticulture
Demonstrated experience working as a coordinator or supervisor direction civil construction and maintenance
Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
Can adapt to change
Be able to work in an environment with competing priorities and be flexible and able to adapt
Demonstrated working knowledge and efficiency in Microsoft suite, inc. develop project estimation and programming skills using Excel
Sound written and verbal communication skills
Well-developed consultive, liaison, negotiation and influencing skills
