Davies Stewart is happy to announce they are partnering with a prominent, award winning South Australian Construction Company, McMahon Services to find a Commercial Manager. Being an industry leading company, McMahon Services strives to be the most successful and respected provider of industrial, construction and environmental services. In this role you will work in collaboration with the McMahon Services Legal Team and the Project Control Manager to ensure adequate and appropriate internal controls for proper commercial management are in place and are properly used across the Customer Stream
Duties
- Part of the project start-up, assist setting up the commercial and contract processes and procedures for all the business unit projects
- Deliver training on commercial management issues and systems and process
- Mentor, support and train the Commercial Advisors within the Customer Stream in commercial management issues and systems
- Lead and enforce the proper use of (including roll out of new) systems and processes related to project and commercial management by all project teams within the relevant area
- Undertake and negotiate with customers and subcontractors with respect to contract terms, variations, quality issues and any disputes or potential disputes with a view to early resolution
- Supervise procurement processes
- Identify and support systemic changes in the procurement and contract management areas to ensure consistency of practices
- Liaise with the Legal team on a regular basis for each relevant area within the Customer Stream
- Development of annual budget and preparation of the forecasting report for the Customer Stream
- Accountability for all Customer Stream commercial transactions
- Drive risk management and compliance with systems and process within the Stream
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Company systems and process.
Key Requirements
- Qualification in commercial and procurement functions or project management
- Minimum 7 years' experience in commercial management with 5 years' experience in commercial management in the building and construction industry
- Demonstrated leadership and organisational skills, including an ability to lead change
- Strong issue resolution and problem solving abilities and a capacity to manage high stress situations
- Motivated and driven, good time management and adherence to agreed schedules and timeframes
- Ability to prepare content for training modules and to deliver training
- Ability to conceptualise, outline, perform, and direct research and legal writing skills
- Aptitude and willingness to learn
- A strong work ethic
- Ability to relate well to both work colleagues within a team environment and external parties
