About the role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, The Payroll Officer is primarily involved in processing the fortnightly national pay run of 1700 staff and undertaking associated reporting responsibilities for both fortnightly and at month-end.
 

Duties

  • Adhering to payroll processing deadlines
  • Liaise with Park Management to follow up on paperwork and assisting with queries
  • Ensure the timely distribution and return of timesheets, transaction listings and pay advices
  • Timely and accurate entry of payroll data and new employees
  • Timely submission of payroll file to the Finance Manager for bank processing
  • Processing separation certificates, payslip requests and terminations
  • Filing of employee information
  • Responding to Centrelink, Child Support Services and payroll queries
  • Month end processes for payroll and reporting
     

Skills and experience

  • A minimum of 2 years end to end payroll experience
  • Experience with high volume payroll processing
  • The ability to interpret awards, particularly the Hospital General Award
  • A high level of interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deal with complex issues
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • Experience using Sage MicrOpay would be highly advantageous
